PMHNP Student Bootcamp

  • Closed

Many students have reached out to me saying that they have the following thoughts regarding their clinical experiences:

· “I feel so behind compared to other students in my cohort”
· “I don’t feel like I am being prepared adequately for future practice as a PMHNP”
· “My preceptor doesn’t let me get involved in the process”
· “I feel like my preceptor doesn’t even like to teach”

Well, the PMHNP Student Bootcamp is here to help! Over the course of 9 live, interactive sessions with your small group, we will work our way through the disorders listed below. I will present on how to approach diagnosis/verify an existing diagnosis, steps to formulating a treatment plan, approach to choosing medication(s), and how to approach side effects. Principles of psychopharmacology will be reinforced throughout the lecture series.

In the week following each lecture, you will be sent a series of daily practice questions to reinforce the content. Take a look at the bootcamp schedule below!

Can’t join us live? No problem. Recordings will be sent out to the group the next day and you’ll be able to post in the private Slack group at any point with your questions, comments, concerns.

7/31—Welcome session (Think of this as a ‘meet and greet.’ No content will be delivered on this day as we get know each other.)

8/14—Obsessive compulsive disorder

8/28—Generalized and other anxiety disorders

9/11—Unipolar depression

9/25—Bipolar disorder

10/2—Schizophrenia spectrum disorders

10/16—Post-traumatic stress disorder

11/6—Pediatrics (this lecture will be delivered by a guest speaker who is dual-certified as a pediatric NP and PMHNP)

11/20—Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder

Important notes:
· This group is for students ONLY!
· Group size will be limited to 10 students (this is a high-touch program that is meant to be both a learning experience AND a way to make professional connections with you fellow students!)
· Communication between sessions will be through the private Slack group
· While I will use case presentations as a learning tool, the live lectures are not a forum for student case supervision (though you may certainly ask questions drawing on prior clinical experiences!)
· When you sign up, you will receive a PDF of the bootcamp schedule. You will receive further instruction via email in the coming weeks!
